Bazan Bay 5K

So, today was teh big day!!! I start running, then I walked, then I ran for a bit and walked.... but I did a big finish by sprinting to the finish line where I was met by my own personal cheering section! It was a good feeling!
The times are not posted yet, but I came in aroun 45-49 min. I am so proud of myself!
However, I have no energy now and have been sleeping all day, so that will need to change for next time. Now that I know the route, I can practice running it and train for the TC 10k for next month.

I will post my time when it is up

Saturday March 10

Well, my ankel is still sore and swelled up the other day, probably cause I was wearing heals and I shouldn't have. However, the fist big run is tomorrow. I am going to speed walk it so I do not anger my ankel even more.

Running again!

I have been going to the gym almost every day practicing for the big run in just over one week. I must say that I am nervous and excited all at once! I wish that I had been able to get in more practice runs, but that's life.
I am going to be away this weekend, but I am still going to try and get some running in over the weekend.

Sunday February 25

I did it!! I went out on my first run since I injured my ankle!!! I did five reps of 3:1 (run for 3 min and walk for 1 min). Even though I know that I walked a few times for longer then one minute, I went out there and ran!! I just may be ready to run in the 10K now!!! YEAH!!!!!!

I feel great, but now I have to ice my ankle.

Sunday February 18

Well I took yet another week off from walking and running. My ankle is still swolen but I continue to ice in hopes that eventually my ankle will return to its normal size. Tuesday I am going to the gym with a girl friend, at least I will be able to work out a little bit. I miss running.

Sunday February 11

I went to my running/walking clinic to hear the speakers. I didnt join the group as I am still in pain and my ankle is still swollen. However, I now more motivated to get better and stay healthy. There are ways to exercise and train even with an injury like mine. I am going to start going swimming and doing core and upper body at the gym.

I am glad that I went to the clinic today, it helped me to stay focussed and motivated for the upcoming week!

Week Something

Last Sunday my left ankle gave out on me and I fell while running with my clinic. I have been in pain all week. Although the swelling has gone done, it is still not 100% gone. It looks like that I will not be running the TC 10KM this year. I am VERY upset about this, however I also understand the need to let my ankle heal fully before starting a training program again.

Week 1 Day 5

Today took a lot for me to get out and run, but I went anyway. My goal was to run 30 sec and walk 30 for 15 intervals, however I ended up completing 17! I am starting to enjoy running and I look forward to my runs now.

I will be away all weekend at a skating competition and I am still planning on running, so we will see what happens and I will update Friday, Saturday and Sunday when I return late Sunday night.

Week 1 Day 4

I started my new job tonight and I was tired from information overload! After going for dinner, doing laundry and other general procrastinating activities I decided to go for a walk. I didnt run, I just enjoyed my music and the outdoors and it felt just as good as running!

Week 1 Day 3

Well I went out today and did my running homework. I did 15 intervals at 30 seconds each and did not stop once! When I finished it I was so proud of myself! I am tired and sweaty now but hey that comes with the territory. I found that choosing the right songs kept me motivated to continue on, thank goodness for my iPOD!! During my cool down walk, I was so happy that I reached my goal that I found a good song and started singing out loud and I didnt care who heard me!

Week 1 Day 2

Today I woke to find that every muscle in my legs and arms and back ache. I have chosen not to go for a run today, because when I go back to work it wont be in my regular routine. So Monday's are going to be core strengthening days. Can't you see my excitement? HA HA.
I have 8 exercises from the running clinic and a few from my doctor for my ankle that I will be focusing on today.
Even though I am not actually running, I will be excersising.

Week 1 Day 1

Today was my first day at my running clinic. I was nervous as I have never really ran before. I was the kid in gym class who found every excuse in the book not to run and if I was made to, I found a short cut. This is not to say that I was never athletic, because I was. For 20 years I was a figure skater. The difference between running and skating is that I can stop skating when tired and still keep moving!
However, I found today to be good and actually fun! We started out with a 5 min warm up walk, then alternated running and walking at 30 second intervals each for a total of 15 cycled (we ran 15 times and walked 15 times). I ended up walking during some of the running cycles, but I am going to train hard all week and make sure that I do all 15 with no problem!

At the clinic we were each given a running log book to keep track of our runs which I know will help me a lot.
So here it is folks, the official online log book for my ups and my downs during my training. The TC 10K is in April, that is only 14 weeks away!
Please feel free to leave comments and even advice for me! I will need it in the weeks to come!
